What do you think of this strange, but plausible conspiracy theory of Super Bowl XL?
I'm not a fan or Seahawks Steelers. I've heard this theory of my marketing professor. The NFL is big business and everything to gain money. The Super Bowl generates so much excitement and revenue for the league. The Steelers have a very large fan base, so that the league is even higher ratings when the Steelers are in the Super Bowl. There are many more fans of the Steelers fans Seahawks, so the league wanted the Steelers to win, because it could generate more money on souvenirs champion (shirts, hats, DVD, etc) Then there is all the matter with Bettis playing in his hometown of Detroit. Super Bowl XL was the last game televised by ABC, a station that had a long relationship with the NFL. Disney owns ABC. The league wanted a Cinderella ending the career of Bettis and the Steelers' amazing postseason run as a 6 seed. Disney has players say going to Disney World, and who wanted to build the set "Dreams come true" things because it was a good story idea.
Interesting, but I think with so many bad calls in recent years in the NFL, we can partly attributed to poor officiating and partly attributed to the Seahawks did not play as well as they were capable of.
