Accountants … see if you can answer this?
You recently met with Bill Autograph, a school friend who was very busy with his sports collectibles / memorabilia business on foot. When he said you were an accountant, he became very interested and I wanted to clarify one thing. A concept, it seemed particularly confused about the fact that when inventory is purchased, it is recorded in the books at a cost, but the books are not adjusted for subsequent increases in the value of the inventory. This concept is particularly important in project law because it often buys collectibles that will increase the value depending on the degree of success of a player or team becomes. Can record increases in the value of sports memorabilia inventory?
It could, but it would be terribly stupid decision from the point of settlement tax. Since then, the increase in inventory would be recorded as income and therefore taxable. This is the case. This is exactly the same position as any other property. Say a company has bought a building for $ 1,000,000. As they hold the building where they will be depreciate, actually recording a loss due to depreciation in value, when in fact it is not uncommon for construction increase in value. But this increase to be recognized as a capital gain when the property is sold. If your friend attempts to save revenue due to the increase in value, it will also be a terrible cash flow problems, as will be liable for income tax non-cash item. In general, if not always, nobody wants to recognize any appreciation in the value until the asset is sold.
